Director of ENL and World Language
We are looking for an innovative and experienced district leader dedicated to language achievement and cultural understanding to join us as the Director of World Languages and ENL. This key role involves overseeing and advancing our K-12 world language programs and ENL services. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with expertise in effective language instruction practices and a strong commitment to promoting equity and excellence for all students.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct supervision with world language teachers (grades 6-12) to foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Facilitate best practices in language instruction, assessment, and curriculum development to ensure curriculum alignment.
- Support teachers in implementing innovative teaching methodologies and incorporating technology effectively.
- Monitor student progress and program effectiveness, using data to inform decision-making and program adjustments.
- Use formal and informal observations to provide leadership and oversight for the K-12 ENL program.
- Oversee budgeting and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with building administrators and ENL teachers to implement effective identification, assessment, and support services for English Language Learners.
- Work closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to collect and analyze data for state reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of the CR Part 154 and CEEP.
- Attend ENL coordinator meetings at BOCES to stay informed about state regulations, best practices for supporting ELLs in the district, and to engage in networking opportunities.
- Work with the Seal of Biliteracy advisor to promote and support interested students in attaining the seal.
- Oversight of the summer Jumpstart program, student registration, screening and provide informal assessments for new ENL entrants to the school district.
- Conduct ongoing research on best practices to support and strengthen the SIFE program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid New York State teaching certification in World Languages and/or ESL.
- New York State SDA/SDL certification with at least five years of successful teaching experience in World Languages and/or ENL.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and teacher supervision.
- Demonstrating a commitment to equity and excellence in education utilizing excellent communication, interpersonal, technological and organizational skills.
- Multilingual practitioner
