DIRECTOR OF COMPLIANCE AND SPECIAL PROJECTS
Applications will be accepted for the following anticipated vacancy:
Director of Compliance and Special Projects
This is a 12-month Probationary appointment
Prerequisites for the position are:
- New York State certification – SDA/SBL/SDL
- Strong administrative and instructional leadership experience
- Expertise in leadership, technology, data analysis, human relations, and communication Demonstrated administrative experience, preferably at the secondary or district level
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations (including DASA, Title IX, Section 504, residency, and student discipline procedures)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential matters and complex investigations
- Experience with student information systems and operational platforms (e.g., SchoolFront, AESOP/Frontline, Wincap)
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Serve as the District’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Coordinator, ensuring compliance with all reporting, investigation, and training requirements.
- Serve as the District’s Title IX Coordinator, overseeing compliance with federal regulations, investigations, and grievance procedures.
- Serve as Workplace Violence Prevention Coordinator, ensuring compliance with New York State requirements, including training and reporting.
- Serve as Bullying Prevention Coordinator, supporting district-wide initiatives to promote a safe and inclusive school climate.
- Ensure district compliance with Section 504 regulations, including serving as the 504 Appeals Hearing Officer.
- Serves as the primary point of contact between the school district, military-connected families, and military agencies, ensuring smooth transitions, access to resources, and support for the academic and social-emotional needs of students with military affiliations.
- Go Guardian - Responsible for following up with building administration when receiving alerts.
Hearings and Legal Processes
- Serve as the Superintendent’s Hearing Officer for student disciplinary hearings in accordance with Education Law §3214.
- Serve as the Residency Hearing Officer, overseeing investigations and determinations related to student residency.
- Ensure all hearings and determinations are conducted in accordance with legal requirements, due process, and district policy.
Student Services and Special Education Support
- Provide supervision and support for High School Special Education staff, in collaboration with the Director of Special Education and building administrators.
- Support the implementation of student support systems, ensuring equitable access and compliance with mandates.
- Collaborate with counseling, PPS, and administrative teams to address student needs and placements.
Operational Systems Management
- Serve as the district point person for:
- SchoolFront
- AESOP/Frontline
- Wincap
- Oversee system functionality, training, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors.
- Approve and manage teacher course requests and scheduling inputs in collaboration with building leadership.
District Leadership
- Serve on district committees and leadership teams as assigned.
- Develop and deliver professional development related to compliance areas (DASA, Title IX, safety, etc.).
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for district leadership and the Board of Education.
- Maintain working relationships with legal counsel, state agencies, and external organizations.
The Director of Special Projects and Compliance will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Assistant to the Superintendent for PPS.
